1498 Carved Pieta
1501 Received contract to carve Madonna and Child for the Piccolomini altar and commissioned to carve David
1503-1504 Painted Madonna and Child
1503-1508 Commissioned Twelve Apostles for the Florence Cathedral only completed a portion of St. Matthew
1504 David completed. Commissioned to paint a fresco Battle of Cascina he finished the cartoon but never the fresco.
1505 Summoned to Rome by Pope Julius II and commissioned for Pope’s tomb. 8 months spent selecting marble in Carrara for the tomb.
1506 Tomb project put on hold.
1513 Pope dies and tomb project revived with a different design carving Moses and the two Slaves.
1508 Summoned to Rome again by Pope Julius II and commissioned to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
1512 Completed ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
1514 Began work on Risen Christ.
1516 Commissioned to design façade for Medici family church of St. Lorenzo.
1520-1534 Designed and carved tombs for the Medici family and Medici Chapel
1524 Designed the Laurentian Library at San Lorenzo
1532 New contract for a smaller tomb for Pope Julius II.
1534-1541 Painted the Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel.
1542 Began work on The Conversion of St Paul and The Crucifixion of St Peter
1545 Tomb of Pope Julius II completed.
1546 Appointed chief architect of St. Peter’s Basilica.
1555 Completed the Florentine Pieta.
1560 Completed wooden model of St. Peter’s dome.
1564 Worked on Rondanini Pieta until his death on February 18.
